Chris Markwick is a doctor, father, technophile and outdoor equipment enthusiast whose specialist skills include fire-setting, dad jokes, edible hedgerow plant identification and never being more than three feet from an Apple device.
Through May and June 2016, accompanied by nothing but his 16kg pack, Beast, and a wind-up radio most recently used to deter over-zealous cows from a tent inspection, Chris fulfilled a long-time ambition and made the epic 800km journey across the French Pyrenees from coast to coast.
Chris firmly believes that the source of most joy comes from “doing stuff outdoors”. Having eagerly consumed every Ray Mears book published and having purchased far too much (in his girlfriend’s opinion) outdoor gear, he’s getting out there and getting wet and muddy.
